A cop gave a “sorry I tased you” cake to a woman he tased hoping that she would forgive him. She not only skipped the apology, but she also sued him.

Stephanie Byron, a Florida woman, claimed that she was involved in a rather bizarre altercation with former Escambia County sheriff’s deputy Michael Wohlers, which prompted him to bake a cake to apologize.

According to Byron, in May of 2015, Mr. Wohlers visited the apartment complex where she works and allegedly tried to show off his gun and taser to several employees. Byron, who has filed a lawsuit against Wohlers, said that the officer started talking about her personal life, which made her very upset.

She also stated that Wohlers intimidated, harassed, and threatened her that day. The law enforcer took a sweet tea that Miss Byron was drinking, she tried to take her drink back, and he became very aggressive. According to Byron, the officer tased her when she tried to grab her tea. Court documents showed:

“Wohlers who was in his full uniform took Byron’s sweet tea from her and refused to give it back. When Byron approached Wohlers to retrieve the drink, he discharged the stun gun into her chest and throat. Byron fell to the ground. Wohlers jumped onto Ms. Byron, kneeing her in the chest and forcefully removed the Taser prods.”

After the incident allegedly occurred, the officer baked a cake and wrote “sorry I tased you” on it and gave it to the victim as a form of apology. The cake did not work, in May of 2016, Byron sued Wohlers in federal court in Pensacola.

The Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission had reviewed the case and placed Wohlers on a one-year probationary period from serving at any law enforcement agency in Florida. Wohlers, who resigned from the sheriff’s office in July 2015, has denied the story. The lawsuit stated:

“Wohlers violated Byron’s civil rights, committed battery against her and caused her hardships, including physical injuries, monetary loss, medical expenses, humiliation and mental anguish.”

According to Byron’s attorney, Wohlers had accidentally discharged his taser into a pillow at his house. Byron is asking for “compensatory damages, costs, expenses and reasonable attorney’s fees.”

A 2014 image featuring a cake with the same message went viral this week and some people thought it was linked to this story, but this is not the case.
