Megyn Kelly Is A ‘Real Force,’ Says Matt Lauer

Matt Lauer has nothing but love for Megyn Kelly, just don’t ask him about Ann Curry. There are dozens of rumors published in tabloids in the past weeks all claiming that Lauer and his co-hosts on NBC are not happy with the network’s decision to hire Mrs. Kelly. Earlier this month, in a celebratory press release, it was revealed that Kelly, the author of the new book “Settle for More,” would be a top recruit and potentially the new face of NBC.

Not long after the news broke, the Peacock Network confirmed that there were changes underway in the morning lineup. They revealed that the fourth hour of the Today show was being canceled. Tamron Hall and Al Roker, who used to host that time slot, were demoted, prompting Miss Hall to leave the network for good.

Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, who were the co-hosts of Today show’s fourth hour, were moved to 9 AM. All of these changes led to unspoken anger, frustration, and wild rumors.

It was claimed that Kotb, Lauer, and Savannah Guthrie were scared that the former host of The Kelly File had plans to replace them. There were allegations that the network was racist and whitewashing Today because they dumped two black journalists for a white political commentator. NBC News denied the claims.

Insiders argue that Lauer was angry for not being told in advance that Kelly was hired. However, in a new interview, he had nothing but praises for the former corporate defense attorney. Mr. Lauer said: “She’s multitalented and would fit right in. She’s a remarkable broadcaster and journalist, a real force.” He also had kind words for Guthrie, Katie Couric, and had nothing to say about Ann Curry whom he kicked out of Today.

Starting this fall, Kelly will host her own daytime program and an in-depth Sunday night news show where she will be up against Oprah.
