7 Year Old Single Ladies – A recent video that made its way online depicting a group of 7 year old girls, scantily clad, performing Beyonce’s song “Single Ladies,” has caused quite a stir on the internet among a crowd who thinks that the girls are far too young to be dressing and acting the way that they are in the video. A number of these videos have appeared online in recent years, but this video is perhaps one of the most talked about to date.
“wildly inappropriate” and “sexually provocative,” said one publications.

The video currently has around 2 million hits. The video shows 5 seven year old girls who are gyrating and wearing clothes that are normally reserved for much older women. The video was taped at the World of Dance competition in Pomona, California.

The question that has been raised is whether or not the parents of the girls thought that anything was wrong with the performance. They wouldn’t allow the girls on stage without knowing what they were wearing or what the performance was going to look like, right? So they must have been aware, and allowed them to go on stage and act the way that they did. The troubling thing here is not that the kids did it, its the obvious adult manipulation behind the scenes to get them to act and dance the way that they did in the video.

While most kids should be focused on mastering their favorite video game, turning perfect cartwheels or making dramatic scenarios for their collection of toys, these girls are on stage learning how to act like grown women for a dance competition.

First rate dance performance by 7 year old girls. I hope they won the competition! This is theatre arts stuff and should be left in that context – people should realise the difference.

I have a degee in Theatre Arts and have reviewed for the ballet. These young girls did a marvelous job, in a professional dance sense. I checked out the Beyonce video and they’re better than Beyonce. The girls statement to the audience is: “We can do it better than Beyonce”. It’s not provocative–those were professional dance moves. I’ve taught thousands of kids and kids do far more outrageous stuff than this. Just be glad the girls worked and rehearsed to turn in a great performance. Don’t try to make them feel guilty. The girls everyone should be worrying about are the girls smoking crack in the girl’s bathroom at school.

This is so inappropriate. All the hair thrusting and the moves. Imagine how there gonna be like when there teenagers.
