Ashley Graham Model Plus Size On Jay Leno Show – Ashley Graham, a controversial plus sized model from the equally controversial Kane Bryant lingerie ad, recently appeared on the Tonight Show. The ad, which featured multiple women that work as plus sized models, had to be edited before the network would allow the ad to run before “American Idol.” She made her first appearance in the show in the opening segment. Jay Leno is shown walking backstage to tell her to change because she’s showing too much cleavage. Leno has said that he did not see any reason why the commercial was edited, and that he felt that they were being discriminated against because they were plus sized models. He does have a point, too, because many commercials have been as risque with smaller models and there has never been a big deal made about it.
Ashley took the stage, and made an attempt to explain the ad. “ABC is not showing it, well they are now, at the end of the 9′o’clock hour. Apparently there’s too much cleavage. There’s too much flesh,” Graham said of the commercial.
Leno went on to compare the ad to a number of different ads that have run recently, including the Victoria’s Secret ad that is titled “The Nakeds.” That commercial features scantily clad thin models. “How is that any different? Some men like pork ribs, some men like beef ribs. How is that any different?”
Graham went on to say that while the banning of the ad was unnecessary, she likes that this controversy is getting the word out that plus sized models can look great, and make riveting commercials as well.
Jay asked her what kind of reactions she has been getting from men and women. Graham said that many women had thanked her for the commercial, because she was able to portray what many women look like but had never been properly represented on television.
