Jessica Simpson's boyfriend Tony Romo has been bombarded with abuse by American football fans.

The singer attended the Dallas Cowboys quarterback's Sunday game with her father Joe wearing a pink jacket emblazoned with his number nine.

Although the 27-year-old was seen to be very supportive of her new man, the team ended up losing the game.

Fans reportedly vented their frustration at the couple when they left the Texas Stadium after the match.

The Dallas Morning Herald quoted a Cowboys supporter as telling Romo: "Worry about the game, not your girlfriend!"

A family friend recently claimed that Simpson regrets splitting with ex-husband Nick Lachey, who reportedly married MTV presenter Vanessa Minnillo earlier this month.
