A lot of dope products, perks, and publicity presents make their way into the Complex office and you never know what someone is going to send. But right off the bat we were a bit perplexed when we got a package from Beyoncé and Tina Knowles’ clothing line, House of Dereon, especially since Complex is clearly a men’s magazine and we just don’t care about hip flaring denim. But things got really strange when we actually opened the package and all we found was this nude brown baby-pin sporting blue eyes, light brown hair, and bubble-gum pink lips in a small black coffin box. Confused? Yeah us too. And their explanation of why we were the proud recipients didn’t help any either:
As we celebrate Black History Month and in honor of Mardi Gras, please accept this gift from House of Dereon inspired by the late great Patrick Kelly, African American fashion designer and style enthusiast. As a fan of Black Memorabilia, Patrick often gifted family and friends with baby doll pins. We have styled his original piece to reflect our New Orleans and Creole heritage. As our friend, we hope you will find this gift just as charming. With Love and Best Wishes, Tina and Beyoncé Knowles.
Ok. Thanks for the gesture gals and glad you consider us friends, but can you just send over like 20 copies of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue instead? That’s how we planned on celebrating anyhow. More close-ups of the Creole baby after the jump
