I saw The Omen(2006) two or three nights ago on Australian TV. The movie did not start until 1 in the morning. I was too tired to watch the whole movie and went to bed about 2 and missed the last half. I read the story on Wikipedia out of curiosity the next day. I also read a digest of the other Omen films which have been all over the place in the 40 years from 1976 to 2006. The Omen, Damien: Omen II, Omen III: The Final Conflict and Omen IV: The Awakening as well as The Omen:666. Now you can watch replays on TV. You can watch them on DVD and, if you are into the new technology, on your iPod or iPad. I’m happy to wait until movies come onto TV as The Omen:666 did this week.

Mia Farrow appeared as Mrs. Baylock, the Satanic nanny, in the remake of The Omen:666. Though the film itself received a lukewarm critical reception, Farrow's performance was widely praised, with the Associated Press(AP) declaring "thank heaven for Mia Farrow." Her performance resulted in, as the AP put it: "a rare instance of this new Omen improving on the old one." Filmcritic.com added: "it is Farrow who steals the show", and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer described her performance as "a truly delicious comeback of Rosemary in Rosemary’s Baby. Mia Farrow is chillingly believable as a sweet-talking nanny from hell." -Ron Price, Wikipedia, 17 January 2011.

As I surveyed all these Omens1
I became more interested in Mia
Farrow. All this 666 stuff, this
Book of Revelation playing is a
very old game going way back to
the first century with this piece of
apocalyptic literature. And it is a
game anyone can play with a little
keen interest in the symbolism of..
this 666!!1

1 Wikipedia and several other internet sites provided me with excellent overviews of the entire set of Omen films.
2 I have come to favour ‘Abdul-Baha’s explanation that 666 applies to the first Umayyad Caliph who came to power in the year 666 of the Christian era. Ali was the true successor whom Muhammad publicly named “Leader” (“Imam”) a few months before his death. (See: M. Gail, Six Lessons on Islam 6.29)

After the assassination of Ali in AD 661, Muawiya seized power over the expanding Muslim world, proclaiming himself the first Caliph of the Umayyad dynasty and Empire in the notorious year of AD 666 (vv. 9.11, 13.1–2, 5–6 & 13.18). Muawiya’s destructive edicts crippled Islam spiritually. He made the Muslim capital unholy Damascus instead of holy Mecca, and for good measure desecrated the Mecca birthplace and the Medina tomb of Muhammad. His Umayyad Caliphate carved out the world’s then biggest Empire. See: (1) Robert F. Riggs, “The Rise of the Caliphate,” in The Apocalypse Unsealed, Philosophical Library, NY, 1981, pp. 165-175; and (2) The Revelation History of Muslim Militarism | Apocalypse Secrets.
She left her Alaska life and family behind and spent days driving her truck to Los Angeles to compete on “Dancing with the Stars,” and it appears Bristol Palin made the right choice.

The 20-year-old single mom, and daughter of former Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, is heading to next week’s “Dancing with the Stars” final round.

Despite four visits to the bottom of the “DWTS” leaderboard, Bristol and professional partner Mark Ballas made it to the final round, while Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who topped or tied for the top spot several times throughout Season 11, were sent home.

The shocking announcement rocked the ballroom when Brandy and Maks were revealed as having received the lowest total score following Monday night’s competition show. Maks put his head down as he heard the news and a number of members of the studio audience booed the results.

Cameras panned to finalist Kyle Massey, who put his hands on his hips, while his partner, Lacey Schiwmmer clapped, but gave a look of disappointment.

Jennifer Grey, who also made it through to the finals stood with her arms at her side and turned away, while her professional partner, Derek Hough’s jaw dropped as he clapped slowly.

Mark Ballas rubbed the arms of Bristol, who looked expressionless as she turned to Brandy and Maks.

“I don’t know how to feel right now,” Brandy said when show co-host Brooke Burke asked her reaction to the news. “It hasn’t processed yet for me.”

Maks, who has been vocal all season about a host of issues – in particular, judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s scoring — actually played it cool, despite the fact that he and Brandy scored 57 total points for their dances on Monday night, a full 4 points more than Bristol and Mark.

“I said it in many press interviews, one thing that I love… is the fact that people vote and their voices count and I love the fact that the show represents that,” Maks said. “It represents people’s choice and I don’t regret a second of the last five years of my being on the show and definitely not a second of me being on the season. It’s been an amazing journey.”

Judge Bruno Tonioli, who was disappointed to see Brandy go, made a surprising gesture on the live results show, asking her to come back next week and perform the freestyle she and Maks were working on when they were hoping to make the final round.

“Please, on Tuesday, when you come back, do it for me, for us. Come on…” he said as the camera panned to Brandy’s disappointed face.

PBS edits Tina Fey joke about Sarah Palin

On Nov. 9, Tina Fey was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor during a made-for-TV ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. But when PBS broadcast the event the following Sunday, part of Fey's acceptance speech was missing -- specifically, the part where Fey made fun of her favorite "Saturday Night Live" target, Sarah Palin. The following remarks were cut from the broadcast:

"And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all women — except, of course, those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape kit ’n’ stuff. But for everybody else, it’s a win-win. Unless you’re a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 years — whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us. Unless you believe in evolution. You know what? Actually, I take it back. The whole thing’s a disaster."

Earlier in the night, Fey credited Palin for helping her win the prize. "I would be a liar and an idiot if I didn't thank Sarah Palin for helping get me here tonight," she said. "My partial resemblance and her crazy voice are the two luckiest things that have ever happened to me." Those comments made their way into the broadcast, but many of Fey's Palin jokes did not.

PBS claims the decision was made not for political reasons, but purely due to time constraints. “We had zero problems with anything she said," executive producer Peter Kaminsky told the Washington Post. "We snipped from everyone.”

“Jessica is over Nick, but she still wants to be remembered before he is,” a friend said.
The tabloid says that Jessica Simpson is in love with former football player Eric Johnson, who she has been dating for six months. “[Jessica] loves him and wants a family already,” said the friend. “Her goal is to beat Nick and Vanessa to the altar.”
Even though she and Eric haven’t known each other long, Jessica is not letting that slow down her plans.

Two of the Gosselin sextuplets have been expelled from their Pennsylvania private school, In Touch Weekly reports. Alexis and Collin, age 6, are reportedly being home-schooled after getting kicked out for "rage issues."

"They've fought with their peers, called them nasty names and made fun of other kids," a source told the magazine.

Jon Gosselin recently lashed out at Kate for continuing to keep the kids on television, claiming the show has given them behavioral and emotional problems--and the In Touch report suggests their filming schedule has caused trouble at school.

"Collin had such bad issues that he refused to get his picture taken at school because he's tired of being on-camera," the source said.

A source close to the situation didn't explicitly confirm the expulsion but told the New York Post that Kate's "number one concern is protecting her children and is keeping this personal situation as a private matter that she works out with her kids."

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Honeymoon Over In Brazil: Looks like its Bye-Bye Brazil for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Hollywood life reports that November, 13 will be their last day of shooting in the fabulous ‘Isle of Esme’.

A source from the set of ‘Breaking Dawn’ told Hollywood Life that although the waterfront state in Paraty, Brazil had been booked for a full 22 days, Kristen and Robert will be leaving the tropical heaven on November, 13 via a helicopter. “It took the production crew 10 days to change the house to the way they wanted it (for the movie),” the website reports. "Then they spent five days filming scenes and now they will spend the next five days changing the house back to the way it was before," the source revealed.

The two Twilight sensations had been shooting all week in Brazil for their latest in the Twilight series. They had been filming the Honeymoon sequence between Edward and Bella here. Twilight fans all over the world have been in a frenzy to see the steamy scenes between the on-screen/off-screen duo.

Some fans also tweeted that ‘Rob-Sten’ even filmed the very highly anticipated 'feather scene,' in which Bella wakes up covered in feathers the next morning, after losing her virginity to Edward.

The website reported that although the two were leaving Brazil, they won't be going back straight to Baton Rogue, Louisiana, where they will be shooting for their rest of the movie. The source had allegedly revealed that the two will be taking a detour in L.A., before returning back to their private 'love-nest'!

Bristol Palin 'Could Be in Dancing Finals – Wow!'

It's no secret that Bristol Palin isn't the best dancer.

Week after week, Palin, 20, has landed at the bottom of the Dancing with the Stars leader board. And, week after week, she is saved from elimination.

So if it's not her moves that keep her in the competition, what is the secret ingredient to Palin's performances that has America voting for her?

"Bristol Palin is somebody that I think most of Middle America and regular people can relate to," Dancing judge Carrie Ann Inaba tells PEOPLE. "A lot of people come up to me and say, 'I want to be on Dancing with the Stars. Why don't they have a regular-people version?' And I feel like that's what Bristol Palin is. She's a regular girl with normal problems and normal issues, and I think a lot of people look at her and see themselves."

Adds Inaba, "I think the Bristol Palin phenomenon is amazing. I feel like she's very relatable to the average person. She's non-pretentious, very relaxed, and sort of non-affected by anything in this dance competition right next to all these amazing celebrities."

Although she admits Palin's performances are "not spectacular," Inaba won't be too surprised if America's votes send her through the semi-finals and into the season finale on Nov. 23.

"She might be in our finals," Inaba says. "Wow."

Dear Gwynnie,

Just do it. Jump in and go for a career in country music.

Sure, you may have looked and sounded a bit nervous during your performance of "Country Song" on last night's Country Music Awards, but…

PHOTOS: 2010 CMA Awards

Looks like the country world's got your back.

"I don't think there's a credibility issue," says Alison Bonaguro, a writer for CMT.com. "I think that the industry seemed to love her. The fans seemed to love her. There was genuine applause."

More than just applause, but the Oscar winner received a standing ovation.

"It was really great because there was no smoke and mirrors. There were no gimmicks," Bonaguro said. "It was just her and a little bit of Vince Gill."

As I first told you yesterday, music execs are clamoring to sign Paltrow for a record deal. "She looked like she's been doing this her whole life," Entertainer of the Year award winner Brad Paisley told Access Hollywood. "When did she find the time to go out and learn how to be a singer? I'm floored. Forget about acting. Hang with us. We're nicer."

Bonaguro says Paltrow's biggest hurdle in launching a career would probably be getting played on the radio. "It's still really hard for a female artist to get played on the radio," she said. "Right now, it seems like Miranda [Lambert], Carrie [Underwood] and Taylor [Swift] fill up all that time on the radio."

Even so, Bonaguro added, "A lot of people were saying, 'Ah, she wasn't even playing that guitar but if you watch, she's playing four chords on a jumbo acoustic guitar and she's signing.

"And doing those two things at once is not easy and it's not easy doing it in front of a crowd like that in a place like that."

Airing today on Oprah, Marie Osmond reveals that, despite the rumors, her son did not commit suicide because he was gay.

"My son was not gay," Osmond says. "He wanted to be married and have a family and travel all over the world. And it wouldn't matter if he was -- I have a daughter who's gay."

She said her daughter was extremely offended by the rumors, because she felt like everyone was basically saying that "everyone who's gay commits suicide."

She said her son, who was a student at LA’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, had tried to commit suicide before -- and it happened in 2007 when she was on Dancing With the Stars. "He promised he would never do anything like that again and I believed him," she told Oprah. "Whatever his reality was, I do believe that there are moments when you slip into insanity and you no longer think rationally. I believe that's what happened."

Her son had battled with a drug addiction in the past, and had entered rehab at the age of 17. Osmond says that he was not under the influence when he committed suicide, but that he was just lost.

"My son was clean when he jumped," she said. "There were no drugs in his system, but I believe the ramifications were there."

Angelina Jolie has recently been snapped in less than glamorous poses, but that comes with the territory. She's making her directorial debut in Europe, and has ditched elegant duds in favor of a utilitarian black coat for the film, which centers on a love story involving a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman in the lead-up to the 1992 Bosnian war.

The December cover of Vogue catches the 35-year-old back in bewitching form, wearing a black bustier and white satin shawl, with the tattoo on her upper back exposed. In the accompanying interview, conducted before she jetted off to shoot the untitled Bosnian love story, Jolie opens up about her attraction to husband Brad Pitt, how her children have inspired her philanthropic efforts, and the odd time when daughter Shiloh asked if she could have a dead pet.

"Shiloh found a dead bird, so she came in and said, 'Can I have a dead pet?' " Jolie said. "And I'm ... 'Uh-uh, I don't think it's healthy, honey. I think they have to put him in a box,' and I had to run out to find, like, a taxidermy bird. I just worked it out for her. ... I figured that I couldn't keep the actual dead bird from the yard, so I swayed her toward one that had been cleaned, at least."

The Vogue photo spread captures the actress-turned-director in a variety of color and black-and-white looks: a vaguely Victorian pose with Jolie in a white bustier, fixing her hair; a look that calls to mind a chess board, as she strides forward in a windblown magenta dress; a luminously lit picture of calm, Jolie glittering in gold and earth tones while relaxing on a lounge chair.

Now that's the Angelina we know. And she opened up about the Pitt we know too. "Well, he's a handsome man," she said. "No, I think he's an extremely sexy — extremely handsome and the most sexy [man] ... When I think about him, I just think of the man who's such a great friend and such an extraordinary father. And that's when I fall, you know, when I have my moments of getting — whoarr! — caught up in how much I love him ... it's usually when I see him with the children."

About their children, Jolie said that they have helped her establish a connection to children around the world and inspired her philanthropic endeavors, such as the one that had her traveling to Pakistan after a devastating flood.

"My children are from the countries that I work in," she explained. "I don't see my family as a global family. I don't see it separate. So when I look at my kids, and I wake up and hear something's happening in Pakistan, I think: It's Asians, and my children are from that part of the world. Those kids are very much like my kids. So I'm happy to be able to go."

Brad Paisley claimed the top prize of entertainer of the year at the Country Music Association awards Wednesday, but it was Miranda Lambert who was the big winner with three honours including female vocalist and album of the year for Revolution.

Lambert, who turned 27 on what is billed as country music's biggest night, topped off a banner 2010 in which she became engaged to singer Blake Shelton, who also was a victor at the CMAs with the award for male vocalist.

"I don't know what's going on," Lambert said, accepting her trophy for female vocalist. "I just told Blake I think we need to go to church."

Standing next to her was country legend Loretta Lynn, who was honoured by event organizers for 50 years in the industry.

"It's been 10 years since I started making music," Lambert said backstage. "I feel more level headed than I thought I would. I hope it's the beginning. I hope in 50 years I'm like Loretta Lynn."

Earlier in the show, Lambert said Revolution, whose songs include The House That Built Me and That's the Way That the World Goes 'Round, had caused "a revolution in my life."

Indeed, in the past year Lambert's popularity has soared. She entered the night as the most-nominated female singer in the history of the CMAs with nine nods, overall.

Ahead of the telecast, she won best music video for The House That Built Me, and that record also earned song of the year honours for writers Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin.

Paisley pleased the crowd with his co-hosting duties alongside Carrie Underwood and a tearful speech when accepting his trophy for the year's best country entertainer.

He thanked his family, his fans and said the night really was about honouring his grandfather, who died in 1987.

"This is a man who loved Buck Owens and he loved Johnny Cash," Paisley said. "He said, 'I want you to learn to play the guitar because this is going to get you through lonely times, and you'll never be alone with this."'

After the show, Paisley said that if ever there was a year he wanted to win his award, it was this one.

"The day before the flood in Nashville back in May, we had everything we needed to start our tour in three weeks. Two days later we had almost nothing. But in three weeks we opened the tour ... It went off without a hitch and the rest of the tour was the same," Paisley said.

In other key awards, Lady Antebellum picked up the trophy for single of the year with their mega hit Need You Now, marking the second straight year the group has won that award. The trio also nabbed the honour, vocal group of the year.

"We couldn't ask for a better way to celebrate a most incredible year in our lives," band member Hillary Scott said after the awards. "This is one for the record book for us. If nothing happens the rest of our lives this would still be incredible."

The Zac Brown Band was named new artist of the year, and the group performed their hit single, As She's Walking Away.

But when it came to performances, all eyes were on Hollywood movie star and Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, who sang the title song of her forthcoming film Country Strong.

Paltrow, who is married to rocker Chris Martin of Coldplay, sang and strummed her guitar alongside Vince Gill, turning in a solid performance that brought her a standing ovation.

She proved her mettle as a country singer after hosts Paisley and Underwood poked fun at her early in the show as just one more Hollywood star shooting for country stardom.

In their third consecutive year hosting the CMAs, Paisley and Underwood also took a comical shot at Lady Antebellum, whom Paisley jokingly confused with pop star Lady Gaga.

Other performances were by country legend George Strait, rock/country crossover artist Kid Rock, Kenny Chesney and Sugarland, who won vocal duo of the year.

In awards given ahead of the telecast, musical event of the year honours went to Shelton for his song Hillbilly Bone featuring Trace Adkins.

"That's how I like to start the night," the Oklahoma native declared, "now I can relax and get drunk!"

Little did Shelton know that later the male vocalist trophy would be his and his fiance Lambert would be the big winner.

The Daily Telegraph's Anita Singh gave it four stars out of five, saying it was the "scarriest Potter film so far". She says it manages to be "sweet, funny, and tear-jerking all at once".

Allan Hunter in The Daily Express gave the film, which has a 12A certificate, five out five.

He said it delivered ''everything you could want - from dazzling special effects and spellbinding storytelling to breath-taking excitement and heart-in-the-mouth emotion''.

Ralph Fiennes was praised for his ''slippery, slimy, supremely menacing Lord Voldemort'', while Helena Bonham Carter's Bellatrix Lestrange is ''more demented and dangerous than ever''.

Overall ''the tension never fades amid desperate chases, frantic escapes, titanic battles, noble deaths, electrifying encounters and enough humour to break the tension every now and again''.

The Guardian's review was markedly different, describing the film as a ''prolonged death rattle'' and rating it just two out of five.

Deathly Hallows feels ''largely indistinguishable from the six outings preceding it'', the paper said, while the mission to evade and defeat Voldemort is ''the same as it ever was''.

Director David Yates' effort was also described as ''looking great, in the way that a show home looks great'' while the roster of stars ''flit between the scenes with the satisfied air of jobbing actors who have been offered walk on roles at the world's most expensive fancy dress ball''.

The review also questions the long-term appeal of the franchise, saying: ''I can't shake the suspicion that these films are too obviously built for purpose and too lacking in wit, warmth and humanity to survive much beyond the moment.''

The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye avoided broad-brush judgment, reserving instead most praise for Emma Watson's performance as Hermione.

He said: ''Emma Watson...has cast her spell over me. She's mesmerising in her quiet, methodical, no-nonsense way, and is definitely the heat source in this movie.''

The critic said this, the first part of the seventh instalment, was more ''earthbound'', taking viewers out of Hogwarts on a ''road trip of sorts''.

But he noted that the stories ''still have power to enchant you, and bring you to the edge of your seat'', and that there ''are some breakneck chases, thrills and spills that should appeal to all''.

One slight criticism was the film's length of 146 minutes, with Bamigboye saying: ''I'm sure there must be a spell that could have made at least 20 minutes disappear''.

James Mottram in The Independent awards the film four out of five, saying it is an ''appetiser that will leave Potter fans hungry for the finale''.

He hails some ''beguiling scenes'', including the moment when seven friends turn themselves into Harry to act as decoys.

But the picture struggles because it ''sags when it should soar'' - especially in the scenes when Harry and Co hit the road to seek out a series of artefacts.

Mottram also says the film feels over-stretched, but concludes ''your appetite will be whetted for what promises to be an almighty showdown before the curtain comes down on Harry Potter for good''.

The Times' Kate Muir rates the film three out of five, saying many will wish the ''bloated finale'' has been edited down into one ''zappy film''.

She describes it as the darkest Potter film yet, featuring killings, show trials and ''the wizard equivalent of waterboarding''.

A ''nightmarish place'' for five-year-olds, Part 1 is ''clearly aimed at tween or teen readers who grew up with the books, and will have no choice but to graduate with The Deathly Hallows Part 2.''

''The problem is a lack of forward momentum,'' she adds, but ''relief comes with some big set pieces''.

A duet recorded by Michael Jackson and rapper-producer Akon will go on sale on Monday -- the first single off an album of new music from the King of Pop after his death in 2009, his record label said on Thursday.

Called "Hold My Hand", the song was first recorded in 2007 and was leaked in an unfinished state on the Internet in 2008.

Jackson's Sony/Epic record label said Akon recently completed production on the track. It will be released globally on November 15 as the first official single from the album "Michael", which goes on sale on December 14.

Sony and the executors of Jackson's estate said they had a hand-written note from the "Thriller" singer, indicating his desire that "Hold My Hand" be the first single on his next project.

"The world was not ready to hear 'Hold My Hand' when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it," said Akon, who was known to be working with Jackson before his sudden death in June 2009 at the age of 50.

"But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I'm so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols," the music producer said in a statement.

Sony also released details of the 10 tracks on "Michael" -- the first album of new material from the singer since "Invincible" in 2001.

Two of the tracks feature rapper 50 Cent and rocker Lenny Kravitz. Sony said the songs were the work of "an esteemed group of producers along with Michael Jackson. While primarily focused on songs that Michael worked on recently, there are also earlier compelling tracks."

Monday's release for digital sale of "Hold My Hand" follows the streaming on the Internet this week of another new track "Breaking News" from the upcoming album, which has met with initial skepticism.

Some music critics, along with a few of Jackson's family members, have said they do not believe the vocals on "Breaking News" really belong to the entertainer.

Jackson's estranged father Joe has said his perfectionist son would not have wanted his unfinished material released.

But last week Sony countered that after extensive research, it was confident the vocals are Jackson's own.

"Michael" has the backing of Jackson's official estate and is the latest commercial venture to capitalize on the singer's renewed popularity in death. A Cirque du Soleil show, dance videogame and a DVD set of all his pop music videos is also on its way.
