Talk about having your best dream turned into your worst nightmare. Grammy award winning singer Christina Aguilera was asked to sing the national anthem at the start of Super Bowl XLV between the Green Bay Packers who eventually beat the Pittsburgh Steelers with a final score of 31-25 in Texas on Sunday February 6th, 2011.

The artist who had revealed few days before the event that since the young age of seven she had been singing the national anthem, appeared as a liar because she forgot the lyrics to the famous song.

Aguilera accidentally changed the first verse of the song, by eliminating the following sentence : “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.” Aguilera released a statement apologizing for the mishap and went on to blame her emotions for the incident. She said:

” I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place.I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”
