Soccer star David Beckham may have won lots of matches but the beleaguered athlete recently lost a court battle to Touch Magazine in a lawsuit dismissal by a U.S. District Judge reports RadarOnline.com.

After the magazine had reported that in a cover story, that a former prostitute named Irma Nici had made the allegation that she had had sex several times with Beckham.

Beckham called in his legal team in Germany and the U.S. In September 2010 posting the argument that the magazine had committed libel, slander and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. Bauer Publishing Company LP, based in Delaware, fought back and the court agreed with them.

Beckham held fast that he had no association with Nici. The magazine in turn argued that their story was based on the first hand account of Irma Nici and that her claims had been confirmed by other sources.

The judge, Manuel L. Real agreed with Bauer stating that the story fell under the category of “public interest” based on Beckham’s celebrity status.

Beckham’s attorneys on the other hand state that they had won a victory regarding the case in Germany but that the U.S. Legal system requires a greater and more different form of evidence regarding the malice part of their claim.

They continued to issue their position that not only the story’s content not true but that they will continue to pursue justice.
