Dr. Dre might hit Sony with a lawsuit if they pursue with their forthcoming movie Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le.

The Lifetime movie is based on the life of Michel’le Toussaint, a singer from California, who had few hit songs in the late 1980s and early 1990s produced by her then-boyfriend, Dr. Dre – the rapper and producer, who discovered Eminem and founded Beats by Dr. Dre.

Michel’le had two Top 10 Billboard hits – “No More Lies” and “Something In My Heart.” The film, which stars Rhyon Nicole Brown, will take viewers back to Compton in the 1990s when the R&B diva met the music mogul and started making sweet music together.

Dr. Dre and Michel’le also fell in love and had a child together. However, according to Michel’le, the romance took a horrific turn when she refused to perform certain songs. The singer claimed that she was physically assaulted by Dr. Dre, who gave her at least five black eyes and cornered her against a wall where he pulled a gun on her.

The rap music legend also broke her nose and her rib. After her split from Dr. Dre, she married Death Row Records CEO/Co-founder Suge Knight with whom she has a daughter, Balei.

The shocking scenes of Michel’le getting punched by Dr. Dre is featured in the made for TV movie, and the CEO of Aftermath Entertainment is unhappy with the fact that he is being portrayed as a woman beater.

Dr. Dre, who is worth over $620 million and his team of lawyers have sent a cease and desist letter to Sony. Dre’s lawyers said he never assaulted Michel’le and she never filed a police report against him and was never hospitalized while they were together. Dre’s legal team also issued a warning to Michel’le.

In 2015, after Straight Outta Compton, Dr. Dre was slammed for not talking about Michel’le or former music reporter Dee Barnes. The backlash forced Dre to issue a broad apology where he said:

“I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives.”

In a recent interview, Michel’le said she has not spoken to Dre in the past decade, but admits that he is a good father. The former star of the R&B Divas: Los Angeles stated:

“He apologized to the public. I don’t think that was an apology to me, because if it was, he would’ve either called me without the public and said ‘Michel’le, I am so sorry for what I did to you 20-something years ago,’ that’s an apology.”

She added:

“I just think he did a general apology because he had a movie out, and he’s got a brand and that’s what you do. I’m not mad at him. If he feels free with that, then that’s good. I don’t know if Dee Barnes took it to heart.”

She said that the abuse did take place. She explained:

“When you’re living in it, you can’t see it. But I couldn’t believe that I was really living like that,” she told the website. “And it really resonated with me. Never did I wake up and ask Dre, ‘Why did you hit me?'”

Surviving Compton will premiere on Lifetime on October 15.
