“A Miss USA contestant has been stripped of her title after racy photos of her were made public.
Some of the images of Katie Rees were posted on canada.com Wednesday evening, sparking headlines all over North America and prompting pagent officials to investigate.
“Katie Rees has been relieved of her duties as Miss Nevada USA 2007,” said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, which owns the Miss USA pageant, according to the Associated Press.
First runner-up Helen Salas will assume the title and compete at the 2007 Miss USA pageant on March 23 in Los Angeles.
The shocking photos came hot on the fashionable heels of a scandal that rocked reigning Miss USA Tara Conner.
The raunchy pics show Rees exposing her breasts, passionately kissing other young women, and simulating oral sex with females and a male.
“The pictures were disgusting,” Miss USA co-owner Donald Trump told Larry King on CNN Thursday night. “These pictures were pretty far out there and that is not representative of Miss USA. We had no choice but to terminate her.”
On Tuesday, Trump announced that hard-partying Conner – accused of underage drinking, drug use and promiscuous behaviour – was going to enter rehab but will keep her title.
Rees, 22, was crowned Miss Nevada in Las Vegas in October and was due to represent the state in the Miss USA pageant next spring.
Earlier this month, Rees was the guest of honour at a Special Olympics bowling tournament and last month attended an event for underprivileged children.
But Rees showed off a much wilder side in the pictures, taken during a party in Tampa, Florida before she was crowned Miss Nevada.”

A “Miss America” is the kind of person who wouldn’t help you if you were dying.. because you look dirty. Uptight, prude, stupid. Who sneers more than a “classy” woman?
She should be stripped of her crown. Vanessa Williams was. No double standards, please. The pictures are a contradiction to the prim and proper facade that the Miss America tradition promotes. Good bye, nasty whore. You do not represent what American women stand for!
So what. How many of us have not done something just like this. If you haven’t then you are probably ugly. I think it’s a shame that certain organizations can dictate the outcome of a beauty pageant. Which is a really a big joke. I mean after one, if they win, what do they do? They fade away after a year. And yes, the one Miss America I remember was Vanessa Williams.

OMG, what a BAD mistake on her part. It’s too bad that as teenagers we don’t have foresight to consider what the outcome of our actions will be somewhere down the line. Ah well, while I reserve judgement regarding whether or not she should have been stripped of her title, I can certainly understand why it was done.
