Penelope Cruz wins best actress award at Spain’s equivalent of the Oscars

Pedro Almodovar’s ” Volver ” won best picture and earned Penelope Cruz the best actress award today at the Goya Awards, Spain’s equivalent of the Oscars.
Now, can she get the oscar? She will be up against Judi Dench,Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep,Kate Winslet in the Performance by an actress in a leading role category.
The movie is about three women–a good mother who is desperately in love with a man who is far from being a saint, a young mother carrying a hard life upon her shoulders and an illegal hairdresser whose shop is the meeting point for all the neighborhood gossips.
