Portia de Rossi is now Portia Lee James DeGeneres

Portia de Rossi is now Portia Lee James DeGeneres – Portia de Rossi, the other half of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, is seeking to change her legal name to “Portia Lee James DeGeneres”, according to a legal document.

This request was signed by de Rossi in March of this year, was filed on the 6th of August in Los Angles.

The document was post online by E! Online.

The couple, a high power and high profile lesbian couple, were married in 2008 in California while marriage licenses were being issued for gays. Following this event, gay marriages were again banned in the state, until the other week when this ban was overturned in the federal courts.

The ban, according to the federal judge is unconstitutional, with the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the President, Barack Obama, both supporting the lifting of the ban.

This is being contested in a higher, so the final decision on whether or not gays will be allowed to marry in the state will not be known for sometime.

De Rossi has had a previous name change, at the age of 15. Her name originally was Amanda Lee Rogers.

De Rossi has starred in the show ‘Arrested Development’ and ‘Nip/Tuck’, while DeGeneres is the well known and love talk show host of Ellen.
