Shanna Moakler Former Miss USA Leaves Organization – Former Miss USA Shanna Moakler announced earlier today that she is resigning as the executive director of the California State Pageant Organization, which handles both the Miss California and Miss Teen California beauty contests.Shanna Moakler took her decision just hours after Miss Universe Organization owner by Donald Trump decided that very controversial anti gay marriage activist Miss California Carrie Prejean will keep her crown despite her semi-nude photo scandal. Shanna said:
“Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign.” “I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth.”
She added:
“I want to be a role model for young woman (sic) with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams.”
Carrie will be going on a media tour to campaign against gay marriage with the National Organization for Marriage while Shanna will be featured in new ads supporting gay rights.
