Famous rapper Snoop Dogg made quite a few headlines for himself after his Fourth of July concert in Jersey City on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, the lyricist received waves of backlash after many parents were enraged because their children missed the traditional fireworks due to his show.
The iconic rapper was supposed to appear in front of the gathered crowd at 8:30 p.m. and perform until 9:20 p.m.
The fireworks show was scheduled to start right after Snoop Dogg’s concert.
However, the 46-year-old rap music legend was late by nearly an hour, and after his concert started, it was longer than expected.
The sudden stretch of the show was because rapper Akon made a surprise guest appearance.
As a result, those who wanted to enjoy the fireworks display had to wait until 10:15 p.m., but many families with small kids left the event before that.
Following the delay in the concert, a lot of displeased parents expressed their annoyance on social media by posting angry tweets directed towards Snoop.
The reason why parents were so angry was that their children had to stay out so long on a school night.
Also, the mayor of Jersey City also fell under the radar of angry citizens blaming him for the poor scheduling of the event.
Mayor Steven Fulop later defended himself and his colleagues on social media by posting a message saying they did everything they could, but it was impossible to please everyone.
Furthermore, a representative from Jersey City insisted it was the delay in the rapper’s show that caused the issues in the schedule.
