Why did Meghan Markle not adapt to the British monarchy?
Since then, many rumors and reports have surfaced explaining what caused the pair to step down from their royal duties.
Andrew Morton has updated his best-selling book, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, and has dove into the events and circumstances that pushed the duo out of London.
In the upcoming book that will be out later this month, he revealed that the former Hollywood star failed to give herself the appropriate amount of time to study and accept all the rules and guides that come with being a royal family member.
Prince Harry failed to prepare Meghan Markle for royal life
Additionally, Meghan did not have a very enthusiastic teacher to help her navigate the complex etiquettes attached to the British royals.
Compared to Prince William, the future king of England who had seven years to teach his then-girlfriend, Kate Middleton, the strict protocols of the Monarchy.
Appearing on British TV, the expert said: “As she [Meghan] said herself, she didn’t read the tabloids, she didn’t watch TMZ. She learned what she learnt about the Royal Family from Harry.”
The author hinted that Meghan received a miseducation from the Duke of Sussex, setting her for failure and confusion.
He further elaborated: “Harry himself was quite jaded with the Royal Family even before this, so she’s had a very rambunctious education into the royal world. She has had members of the household give her advice, and she’s a quick study, but even so. I think it takes many years for someone to accommodate themselves into the Royal Family, and these two didn’t give it very long at all.”
Meghan Markle was naive about royal life
In the spring of 2021, Meghan Meghan sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a bombshell interview where she confessed that she was not prepared to become a royal.
She said that she did not do any research or any preparation for the role of her life.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, told the media mogul: “I didn’t grow up knowing much about the royal family. It wasn’t something that was part of the conversation at home. It wasn’t something we followed. Well, I didn’t do any research about what [being a royal] would mean.”
The Duchess of Sussex defended herself by saying that even though she received proper help, being part of the royal clan is so complex that it would not have mattered.
She confessed: “When the perception and the reality are two very different things, and you’re being judged on the perception, but you’re really living the reality of it, there’s a complete misalignment, and there’s no way to explain that to people.”
