There has been a dramatic shift in the House of Wales; both Prince William and Kate Middleton have finally realized that the “business as usual” approach regarding the former Prince Andrew is no longer a viable or realistic option.
For months, the silence from King Charles III and the rest of the Royal Family has been deafening. The no-comment approach was a breeding ground for a “rot” that now threatens to consume the young royals’ reputations.
During every recent appearance, from the rainy streets of Lancashire to high-profile galas, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Waleses have been met with a wall of loud protests and stinging questions about the wheeling and dealing of Andrew and late financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The British public is no longer asking; they are demanding to know: When did the family know? Why did they never react? Why was there no compassion for the victims of the Epstein scandal?
In a desperate bid to reclaim the narrative, the couple broke their long-standing silence with a carefully crafted statement that read: “Our thoughts remain focused on the victims of these horrific crimes. We stand in solidarity with those seeking justice and healing, and we remain committed to ensuring that the voices of survivors are heard and respected above all else.”
A Calculated Move Gone Wrong
The details of the horrific scandal and the public response prompted Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, to draft this specific message with surgical precision. The royal couple made it a point for their first comment on the matter to be solely focused on the survivors and their families, purposefully omitting Andrew’s name to signal that he is the source of the pain and trauma.
It was also a deliberate move to make it clear that Andrew is no longer a member of the “inner circle.” However, for Prince William and Princess Catherine, the statement did not land with the grace they expected. Instead, it triggered a “social media bloodbath.”
The couple was slammed for a move that many called “too little, too late.” Critics labeled the words as generic, impersonal, and a blatant attempt at “covering his ass” before William’s controversial diplomatic trip to Saudi Arabia.
The Torment In Riyadh
The consequences of this failed strategy were laid bare during an important trip intended to shift the narrative away from the ongoing disaster known as Andrew. Despite the “bombshell” statement and other efforts to erase his disgraced uncle, Prince William was heckled and insulted during his engagement at MISK Sports City in Riyadh. In a video that has gone viral, as Prince William moved to meet young athletes, a journalist’s voice cut through the air: “Sir, to what extent do you think the Royal Family has done enough around the Andrew and Epstein issue?”
Prince William ignored the question, but the damage was done. Back in the United Kingdom, Kate Middleton is said to be “dazed and bewildered” by the vitriol. She is reportedly “blindsided and disenchanted” that their attempt at empathy was met with such ridicule.
Kate: The Scapegoat by Association
Sources close to the Princess suggest she is “horrified” watching William be tormented by a scandal he did not create. In many ways, Kate could be considered one of the many people that Andrew was unkind to. Andrew made it clear on day one that he never approved of her joining the Royal Family and now sees her hard-earned public standing “polluted” by his shadow.
It seems the public completely missed the point of their statement, leaving Kate Middleton in disbelief as the “Andrew grenade” continues to level the House of Windsor.
