The recent ICE raids in Los Angeles have sparked an emotional wave of celebrity backlash—led by none other than Kim Kardashian, who took to Instagram to share her frustration and heartbreak over what she called “inhumane” actions.
“Great—remove violent criminals,” she wrote. “But when we’re witnessing innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families, that’s not safety. That’s cruelty.” Growing up in L.A., Kim says she’s seen firsthand how immigrants shape the city. “They are our neighbors, our coworkers, our friends… our family.”
Kim Kardashian is once again using her platform to speak out—this time against recent ICE crackdowns in Los Angeles. On Instagram, the reality star and entrepreneur didn’t hold back, slamming the Trump administration’s immigration raids that she says are ripping apart hardworking families. “We’re told ICE exists to keep the country safe and remove violent criminals—great,” she wrote. “But when innocent people are being taken from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up.”
ICE Claps Back at Kim K with Mugshots of Arrested Criminals
But the Department of Homeland Security wasn’t having it. Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at DHS, clapped back hard, tagging Kim directly on X and asking which convicted child molesters, drug traffickers, and rapists she’d prefer stay in the U.S. She even posted mugshots of four individuals recently picked up in the raids, saying these were the types of criminals being removed.
While Kim’s message got attention, not everyone was buying her outrage. Critics on social media accused her of “virtue signaling,” pointing out that she’s close friends with Ivanka Trump—and has been for years. Some users weren’t shy about saying she should call her “bestie” directly rather than post for the public. “She has Ivanka on speed dial,” one commenter said. “Why is she telling us instead of telling her?”
Internet Divided as Kim Kardashian Speaks Out on Immigration Raids
Kim and Ivanka’s friendship goes back to the 2014 Met Gala, and they’ve reportedly bonded over motherhood and criminal justice reform ever since. The two even worked closely during Donald Trump’s first term, including efforts to commute sentences for non-violent offenders. In 2020, Kim publicly praised President Trump for commuting several women’s prison terms.
Still, Kim has never officially endorsed a candidate—remaining silent even during the 2024 election that saw Trump defeat former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Commenters on social media say she can blame herself for not backing Harris. In other words, Kim’s post may have sparked a firestorm—but it doesn’t seem like it’s changing policy anytime soon.
Celebrities Rally Against ICE: “We Can’t Turn a Blind Eye”
Kim wasn’t alone in speaking out. Actor and comedian John Leguizamo dropped a heartfelt video on social media, urging protestors to stay peaceful. “Trump wants an excuse to use the Insurrection Act,” he warned. “He’s trying to provoke martial law. Don’t give him the chaos he wants.”
Meanwhile, comedian Gabriel Iglesias, aka “Fluffy,” amplified a message from fellow comedian Alfred Robles, asking followers to help identify immigrant street vendors still out working despite the fear. Robles said he wants to donate to help them get home safely to their families.
Eva Longoria: “They’re Raiding Birthday Parties, Not Drug Dens”
Eva Longoria also joined the conversation, posting a powerful video calling the raids “un-American” and “hard to watch.” She reminded followers that most of those being detained aren’t criminals—they’re people getting picked up at family barbecues, school graduations, and Home Depot parking lots.
“These people feed us. They take care of our kids and our communities,” she said. “We can’t deny their humanity.”
And in case anyone was still throwing out the old “get in line” talking point, Eva wasn’t having it. “There is no line,” she said. “People have been waiting 25 years for citizenship. The system’s broken.”
Across the board, these voices are calling for more empathy, more truth, and a better solution—because communities can’t thrive when families are living in fear.
