Pregnant Mom’s Final Drive Turns Deadly in Brazen Atlanta Highway Shooting

A routine Atlanta commute turns tragic when a pregnant mother of two is fatally shot in a brazen rush hour attack, leaving investigators searching for answers and a family demanding justice.

Bianca Huntley Atalanta Highway Shooting Victim

Most Tuesday evenings on Interstate 75 are marked by heavy traffic and tired drivers. But on April 14, near Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, the usual commute became the scene of a shocking and violent crime.

Bianca Huntley, a 34-year-old pregnant mother of two, pulled her white BMW SUV into the median. When Atlanta police arrived at 6:15 p.m., her turn signal was still on. Inside the car, Huntley was badly wounded and trying to call 911 after being shot. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but did not survive.

To the many drivers passing by, it may have seemed like a medical emergency or a minor accident. In truth, it was a murder that took the life of a woman who had worked hard for years to build a better future.

A Life Built Through Hard Work, Lost in Traffic

Huntley worked hard to improve her life. She moved from North Carolina to Atlanta nine years ago and built a stable home for her two daughters, ages 14 and 5. By age 30, she owned her home. By 34, she was a quality manager at a DHL facility in McDonough, had just been promoted, and was recruiting a new team.

She was the main support for her family. When her mother, Gloria Allen, had to go to the DHL facility to share the news in person because police had taken Huntley’s phone as evidence, her coworkers reacted with immediate tears, showing how much they respected her.

But all of her progress ended suddenly on a stretch of road near North Central Avenue Southwest.

The Details Behind a Driver-Side Shooting

At first, people might think a highway shooting is caused by road rage, but the details of Huntley’s death suggest something more serious.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner reported that the fatal shot went through Huntley’s left arm and torso. This suggests the shooter pulled up right next to her driver’s side window. Carrying out such an act in the middle of Atlanta’s busy 6:00 p.m. traffic would take a lot of nerve. It suggests the killer was not worried about being seen by the many people nearby.

This detail strongly supports Gloria Allen’s belief that her daughter was targeted, not just caught in a random act of anger. Investigators also think the shooting may have started at another location before Bianca Huntley stopped her BMW on the interstate.

A Call for Witnesses to Speak Up

The crowded area where Bianca Huntley was killed is now the main focus of the investigation. A shooting during rush hour on one of the South’s busiest highways is unlikely to go unnoticed. Someone nearby may have seen a flash from a gun, heard a shot, or noticed a car speeding away from the white SUV.

Right now, her family is stuck in a painful waiting period, dealing with their grief while pushing hard for justice. Allen, who relies on her faith, said she trusts a higher power for final judgment but expects her daughter’s killer to be found and prosecuted.

Authorities in Atlanta say there is a $5,000 Crime Stoppers reward for information that could solve the case. As investigators review highway cameras and retrace Bianca Huntley’s last drive from the DHL warehouse, the blinking light of her parked BMW serves as a sad reminder of a life cut short.
