The legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson, 69, known for hit movies like Pulp Fiction and The Avengers, is facing a lot of criticism for а provocative message on social media that many condemned as homophobic.

Jackson’s post was intended to congratulate President Donald Trump for his birthday on Friday. The controversial tweet suggested that the party at the White House must have been quite extraordinary if some of the guests were seen wearing knee pads.

The Django Unchained star’s post was accompanied by a picture too. The image shows a package of the product “After Dick Mints” and the slogan saying “Going Down?”

As a result, a lot of Twitter users claimed that Jackson’s birthday wish to the 45th U.S. president was inappropriate and filled with hate towards gay people.

One of the responses to the notorious message asked the actor if the same hackers had possibly attacked he and MSNBC host Joy Reid.

The commenter was apparently referring to the case when the liberal political commentator claimed her blog was hacked and the homophobic statements that appeared on it were not her own.

Some celebrities also stepped in and commented on Jackson’s post as well. Among them was actor Adam Baldwin, who became famous for his participation in the TV series Firefly. In a since-deleted tweet, Baldwin asked his colleague if he was trying to shame homosexuals.

Afterward, Jackson shared a screenshot of a Twitter message saying that even though a lot of complaints had been received for his original Tweet, no violations of the Twitter Rules or applicable laws have been identified.

The Washington, D.C. native, who has always been known for his sharp tongue, added a long laughing trail as a caption to the image and joked about those who criticized him earlier.

Jackson is a fierce critic of the Trump administration.
