Fox News host Laura Ingraham has been followed by a wave of massive backlash after her appearance on air on Monday.

The author had some controversial comments regarding the zero-tolerance policy of President Donald Trump against the waves of illegal immigrants coming through the border with Mexico.

After Ingraham stated that more and more children are forced to be separated from their parents on the border, the host compared the detention centers for kids with being “essentially summer camps.”

As a result, a lot of people protested against the political commentator’s inappropriate comparison, especially after pictures of the detention centers emerged.

Many of the images make it clear that the conditions of the shelters for the children are far from suitable for kids.

Following Ingraham’s insensitive statements, social media erupted with mocking comments about the conservative firebrand’s understanding of what summer camps really are.

According to new reports from last week, the number of children that were kept away from their parents reached 2,000 for just the short period between the middle of April and the end of May.

For the time being, the migrant children are staying in the detention centers, situated along the US-Mexico border.

So far, Trump’s administration has been struggling to defend the policy, which enables separating children from their parents, but at the same time, the opposition against it grows stronger.

Among the people who raised their voices against the zero-tolerance policy were established professionals from fields such as medicine, religion, and politics.

Many also warned the detained children would most likely be prone to lasting psychological trauma later.

The administration and most of its ardent supporters are not ready to concede any ground and insist that it is a good measure that will lower illegal immigration.

However, the reality at the border seems to indicate that this might not be the case.
