A stay-at-home mom and wife residing in Ohio is telling the media that she started an uncontrollable series of thefts because she was reportedly lacking excitement in her life.

Even though Melissa Bergman was leading a seemingly peaceful life and was well-financially provided for, given the fact her home in Mason cost $475,000, she still resorted to the crime spree for a few days back in July last year.

Following what the 30-year-old mother has done, she will be facing time in jail because of her actions.

Bergman explained she committed the thefts because she felt her life was going nowhere and she had nothing to look forward to.

Furthermore, she stated that at one point during the summer last year she was admitted to a medical institution after an unsuccessful suicide attempt.

After she returned home from the hospital, the bored housewife discovered she was sent some packages by mistake.

Bergman returned one of the packets to its legitimate owner but did not do so with the rest of the stuff she was delivered, keeping them instead.

Bergman claimed that after she opened one of the packets, she felt exhilarated — reportedly out of curiosity to see what was in the box.

Unfortunately, the mother did not stop there, as she started going around to many more different houses looking for packages left on the porches.

The crime spree lasted two days, and her children were reportedly in the car when she visited 28 homes.

According to Bergman, she discussed her behavior with a psychologist; it was the time she spent in Afghanistan during her Army career that was probably the reason she felt the need to do something exciting.

Apparently, after she came back to the United States, she was mentally unprepared for the peaceful everyday life in comparison to her quite more stressful routine while serving in the Army.

The bored suburban mom will spend 30 days in jail for her thefts. She had entered a not guilty plea.

She had been arrested seven times in the past, including a 3-year prison sentence in 2010 for larceny.
