Mike Pompeo has shared some of the details of his new lifestyle after dropping 90 pounds in weight over the last six months.

The former director of the CIA was one of the most well-known faces in the previous Trump administration.

Mike Pompeo shares weight loss journey.

Last week, 58-year-old Mike Pompeo was interviewed by the New York Post about his weight loss journey and some of the things he has done to create a positive shift in his lifestyle.

Pompeo said it was June 14 last year when he stepped on the scale and discovered he weighed almost 300 pounds.

It was the highest weight he had been in his life, causing him to tell his wife, Susan, that it was time to make a change.

He created a home gym downstairs in the basement, kitted out with an elliptical machine and some free weights.

Mr. Pompeo explained: “I tried to get down there five, six times a week and stay at it for a half-hour or so. And that was nothing scientific. There was no trainer; there was no dietician. It was just me.”

The Republican politician stated: “I started exercising, not every day, but nearly every day, and eating right, and the weight just started to come off.”

Pompeo began exercising almost every day for around half an hour, as well as choosing more nutritious food options.

Although he still goes out with the rest of the Pompeo family to their favorite restaurant, IHOP, the former US official is now more likely to choose egg whites and turkey bacon rather than a burger or fries.

Pompeo said during the interview that losing weight has been a struggle all his life, and getting into the right mindset enabled him to switch to a healthier lifestyle.

The former elected official said: “Although the truth is losing weight has been a lifetime struggle for me. For me, it’s about getting it right and being sufficiently disciplined.”

Pompeo had gained 100 pounds.

Mike Pompeo had gained around 100 pounds over the course of 10 years, he said, which at the time he blamed in part on a foot injury.

He was elected as a representative of Congress for the state of Kansas in 2010 and went on to hold a string of high-pressure roles.

However, over the last year, the sugary snacks by his computer have been replaced by healthier alternatives.

Pompeo still enjoys getting together with family for a good meal but intends to “be the guy who chooses the salad.”

Pompeo’s friend, David Urban, praises his determination.

Pompeo’s weight loss was not a shocker for some of his friends like David Urban, a prominent Trump supporter, who also graduated from West Point.

Mr. Urban told the New York Post: “You don’t graduate from West Point, let alone become number one in your class at West Point, without being able to be incredibly focused.”

The pal saw first hand how Pompeo’s job at the State Department affected his weight. Urban revealed: “He isn’t the first person who goes into politics and, because of the demands of the job, gained weight. He’s traveling all over the world, flying 13, 14 hours at different places, different time zones. It’s incredibly difficult to keep any type of routine, let alone an exercise regimen. You kind of put yourself behind the job.”

Is Mike Pompeo running for president in 2024?

Some were quick to wonder if the weight loss means that Pompeo will be a presidential candidate in 2024. Many say that he has the right credentials.

He did not give a clear answer, but he is focused on being there for his future grandchildren.

Pompeo revealed: “The truth is, I’m really getting ready for 2044 and hoping I’ll be around in 2054. My son’s getting married in July, and I wanted to be healthier and be around for what I hope the Lord will bless us with as grandkids before too terribly long. I’m not supposed to talk about that, I’m told. My clothes fit better, and I have more energy. I want to be there for my family and hopefully lots of grandchildren.”

While some critics say that Pompeo probably had some exterior help to lose all that weight in just six months, the former Secretary of State is adamant that is not the case.

He told Fox News that surgery and help from professionals were not involved.
