The offending posts that actress Roseanne Barr made on Twitter about former President Barack Obama’s adviser, Valerie Jarrett, resulted in the controversial TV legend getting fired from the ABC network and the show Roseanne getting canceled. Moreover, the rest of the cast was devastated by the unexpected scandal.

However, the fans of the show should not despair just yet, as there are rumors circulating at the moment, apparently confirmed by multiple sources, about a potential continuation of the show. The new production could revolve around a small set of characters from the original, and will most likely exclude Barr herself.

The sudden cancellation of Roseanne on Tuesday left over 200 people without a job, including actors Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman, and Sara Gilbert. Nevertheless, the three actors will still be paid their salaries for the 13 episodes of the season that was scheduled to air in September of this year.

According to Barr’s ex-husband, Tom Arnold, ABC’s decision to stop Roseanne will result in nearly 1 billion dollars losses in salaries and advertisements. And while most are focused on the cultural issues that will arise from the cancellation of the show so shortly after it was brought back to life, it is worth noting that these financial problems could spell disaster for any potential future projects just as well.

Many are still shocked by the sudden turn of events. The return of Roseanne to the screen was a welcomed move by many, and there is no shortage of disappointment over how quickly the show was taken back off the air following Barr’s comments, a Twitter rant, in which she compared Jarrett to an ape.

According to the latest reports, a new reboot is said to be in the works and the show could center around Gilbert, who was also a producer on Roseanne. If the project goes through, it is expected that most of the cast will return.
