Mark Sanchez‘s ex-girlfriend and mother of his son, UK-born model Bobby T, real name Erin Campaneris, has spoken out since the former NFL player was charged with a felony and three misdemeanors for allegedly assaulting a truck driver in Indianapolis on October 4th.
Following the charges, the influencer took to social media and shared a long, detailed post where she held nothing back about the incident.
Bobby T. stated that she is “not at all surprised” by what Mark Sanchez did, but her immediate priority is focused on caring for their 8-year-old son, Daniel.
She wrote: “I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son’s father, Mark Sanchez,” she wrote on her Instagram story. My foremost priority has always been, and remains, our eight-year-old son, Daniel. I chose to remain silent publicly to protect Daniel.”
Concerns Over Fatherhood
Bobby T. explained that she had not spoken publicly before because she wanted to protect her son’s privacy. However, she felt compelled to share some truths, revealing she had always had concerns about Sanchez being around their son and “what the father could have possibly exposed him to.”
She reiterated her lack of surprise regarding the level of violence Sanchez exhibited, stating she believed he was always capable of committing such a horrific act.
She added: “Now that everything is out in the open, my focus hasn’t changed. I have always been concerned about his safety and the exposure he faces. Sadly, none of this comes as a surprise to me. Like everyone else, I learned of the horrific event through a news alert on my phone while sitting next to Daniel. I still know only what is publicly available. At the end of the day, I’m simply a mama to a very sweet young boy doing my best to protect his peace.”
She concluded her message by expressing empathy for the victim affected by the event, doing her best to “shield her son from the drama,” and hoping the public could understand her difficult situation.
The Indianapolis Incident
The former NFL player, who was in Indianapolis to cover an NFL game, was caught up in the chaos.
The night before the game, Sanchez allegedly got into a horrific fight with a 69-year-old truck driver, identified as Perry Tole, in a downtown alley.
Court documents suggest that the altercation began over a dispute regarding a parking spot. The incident resulted in both men being seriously injured and hospitalized. Tole remains hospitalized with severe injuries, including deep cuts to his face.
Sanchez was arrested and charged with one felony count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury and three misdemeanors: battery resulting in injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication that endangers the life of another. Sanchez has since been released from the hospital and booked into the Marion County Jail.
Statement from Sanchez’s Family
Though Sanchez himself did not issue a personal statement to the media, his brother, Nick Sanchez, released one on behalf of the family shortly after the incident, expressing gratitude for support and addressing Mark‘s condition.
The statement read: “This has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved. Mark and our family are incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support we’ve received. Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and medical staff.”
Sanchez’s attorneys, however, have not yet commented publicly on the criminal charges.
When Is Mark Sanchez Going Back To Work?
Shortly after his release from jail, Sanchez himself addressed the incident for the first time.
Talking to reporter Max Lewis of Fox59 News and CBS 4 Indy, the former athlete said: “Right now, I’m just focused on my recovery. I just wanted to thank the first responders, Eskenazi Hospital…and I just want to thank Dr. [Lindsey] Mossler, the surgeon. She saved my life, so I’m grateful for that.”
He added, “ I’m recovering slowly. It’s a long process.”
The former Jets quarterback has not returned to work as an analyst on Fox after the incident. Moreover, it is not clear when and if he will get his job back.
